I desperately need to break in my new pencils and sketch pad... I want to keep trying my geometric forms, I guess it's like cubist abstract... *shrugs* I went back through all my sketches and discovered that I really need to find that old blue notebook of mine... I'm better at sketching than I give myself credit for, but I also seriously need work, particularly with anatomy. I have so many ideas roiling about in my brain, I just need to set down and fish them out and put them to paper. I just saw something on a DA prints advert, and it's a beautifully rendered fox in brilliant colors that work together in the same ways my colors clash. It's... it's amazing. It's not something I can do quite yet, but I plan to try it and see what I produce.

You know, I took a look at my first anthro sketch, a picture of my character, dated May 1rst, 2003... It's hard to believe that it's been over four years. I still remember where I was when I sketched each of these, and on the rare occasions where I was sketching in class... I still remember snippets of the lessons. It's a little creepy, but kind of lends a sense of peace to the sense of just how much time has passed. For example, I splurged a little and went out and bought myself a fresh, pristine sketchpad... and then I couldn't sketch in it for the longest time since it was fresh and new and I didn't want to mar the space. I got a wonderful pencil set for Christmas that I'm itching to use, but the Egyptian exhibit on display at the museum even had a rule against sketching right there with photography. I managed to sketch out the symbols for "Life and peace" and "Scribe" in a little pocket notebook, though.

I'm planning a camping trip for next week, around the 14th, and I'm bringing my sketchpad and maybe my pencils. So help me, I will create something new, and I will sit down afterwards and scan in some new stuff. And I WILL finish my picture for my packsister and send it off to her... and I'll stop worrying and obsessing about the little details. *grin*
